Environment modeling: Trees

Here I am looking at trees. I realise that there will be many trees within ours game scene. Whether they have leaves or not we have not decided. here are some examples of how to model trees. I realise that there are many ways to achieve a tree effect. As our game is cartoon styled, I will be avoiding the 2D plane technique at the top, as it requires photos. This makes it seem realistic and would not be appropriate for our game. The bottom example is a low poly tree model. This will be more relevant for our game although the leaves are individually placed on the branches. Our game will not require this amount of detail. although the tree trunk itself will be modeled this way.
The Mario tree in the top image is closer to how our trees will look. Although we are not sure what condition the trees will be in as said above. I will be basing the modelling technique on these tress. Ken's also will be looking at how the bright primary colours are used in this way.
