This title sequence appeals to me because its fluent, stylistic and it tells a story. It gives the viewer a good idea of what the film will involve. Its themes and so on. The typography style used here is very effective. The text is being incorporated into the video sequence using the lines to reveal the actors names. This is a simple technique but allows the text to be more involved than just sitting on top. In this instance it works incredibly well and allows the user to read and not be distracted by the text as the image sequence progresses.
This title sequence has a lot going on. The bleeds, splatter, and paint effects give it a grunge feel. The artistic approach fits in nicely with the time period of the story also. The parchment textures and effects draw you into that era. I especially like the reveals used for the text, which also fits in with its font. The combination of illustration on the parchment type paper transports you to that time and is very effective at ageing the sequence. There also looks like a linear print texture used, which closely resembles the print found on bank notes. This also simulates and suggests certain time periods to the viewer. The text is clear and introduced at simple intervals to allow clarity, which is essential in title sequences. The typography used is all script with ink bleeds to tie in with the theme nicely.
This title sequence inspires me because its fluency, style, and ability to keep the viewers interest without going over the top. The effects used are very relevant to the time period of herbert matter, as is the typography. The letters are legible despite the use of the flicker effects. It creates a mental picture in the audience's head of the scene beyond the frame, this is portrayed with its effective use of consistent, and fluent imagery.
