Maya test...

In the first lesson we were told to model a simple object created from two components. I chose a microphone. I created the polygon sphere and put the subdivisions down to 8 segments to preserve poly-count. As it is potentially an in-game object, it will need to be simplified in this way to match the conditions of the game engine. I repeated the process with a polygon cylinder and joined the two with the vertex snap to point method. I also extruded the end of the mic for the wireless receiver. I then merged the two objects to make them a single object. I then projected a simple microphone JPEG texture onto the object.
Overall found this lesson useful, because it taught me that an organized scene allows you to manipulate what is already created, instead of repeating processes, therefore cutting overall project time. I found that my Bauhaus model in my title sequence was over complicated and was not modelled in a professional way. I will be using these methods in my upcoming games design module, to produce more professional, and market-friendly projects. Here are my images for the microphone development...
