Intro to Unity...

For the next brief we will be using a program called Unity. Unity is a 3D authoring tool for making Video Games with an integrated Game engine to allow for immediate game testing. Unity can work with Maya to import assets/models that can be used within the game engine. I have been getting to grips with the program over the past few days. I have created a few in-game objects, potentially for my character's scene.

Oil Drum
These were made using a simple cylinder with 8 subdivisions. I textured it with a simple stock image of an oil drum top that I manipulated in photoshop to repeat over the sides of the cylinder. Then I exported the object from Maya into a FBX file. I then placed the FBX in my assets directory for Unity.
Once imported colliders were added to the oil drums to prevent the player from passing through the object.
